We put together this kit so our customers can repair a broken or deteriorated gasket on the outer door of their Isotherm fridge. The symptom of a bad door gasket is excess frosting on the evaporator. Excess frosting means that a heavy frost builds up on the freezer compartment within one week of defrosting.
TEST for the existing gasket by looking for gaps in the seal. Take a dollar bill and close it in the door – pull it out, there should be some resistance from the door gasket as you pull the bill out. Do this all the way around the door. If you find gaps, then repairing the gasket should seal up the fridge and improve the frosting problem.
This gasket kit is sufficient to replace the gasket on all models Isotherm Classic Cruise Models Cruise 42, Cruise 49, Cruise 65, Cruise 85 and the Cruise 130. Please note two kits would be required to repair both doors of the Cruise 195 or the Cruise 200.
The gasket is a compressible D shape material that measures .75” x .592”. It is made out of EPDM (Ethylene-Propylene-Diene-Monomer) this material is well known for its excellent ozone, weathering, and aging resistance. EPDM is found in a wide range of applications and is excellent for use outdoors.
The gasket material comes with a self-adhesive strip and can be cut with scissors or a utility knife. The adhesive cure time is 48 to 72 hrs.
